Terminal T3 Fiumicino Airport

Client: CMB Società Cooperativa
Project: Studio Bellini
Description: Terminal T3 – New Facade TEKA.
Location: Fiumicino, Roma, Italia
Year: 2017

The object of the intervention was the creation of the new glass façade of the T3 International Terminal. The terminal was inaugurated in 1961, with a design collaboration between the famous engineer Riccardo Morandi and the architects Zavitteri, Luccichenti and Monaco.
The new project by the Bellini studio involved the creation between the six pillars of the building, of five large “reliquaries”, built with tempered and stratified glass sheets, without interrupting profiles and assembled together only with transparent silicone. The façade transforms into a completely transparent inclined surface, made with full-height glass almost 7 metres high. The support structure is made up of steel plates and reinforced polyamide “slide” elements.
The project is completed with the creation of 5 entrances made entirely of glass.
