The Project

The project involved the construction of the new glass facade for the T3 International Terminal. The terminal was inaugurated in 1961, a collaborative project between renowned engineer Riccardo Morandi and architects Zavitteri, Luccichenti, and Monaco.

The new project by Studio Bellini involved the creation, between the building’s six pillars, of five large “glass facades” constructed from tempered and laminated glass panels, without interrupting profiles and joined together only with transparent silicone. The facade is transformed into a completely transparent sloping surface, made of almost 7-meter-high glass panels.

The support structure is composed of steel plates and reinforced polyamide “slide” elements. The project is completed with the creation of five compasses made entirely of glass.
